Last year, it was the Eiffel Tower, this year model and entrepreneur Jessica Minh Anh transformed the iconic Hudson River into the world’s newest catwalk. Amongst those whose silhouettes were shown on the stunning, 100-metre floating fashion ramp in New York City was Pakistani designer Syeda Amera who also made her presence felt at the Pakistan Fashion Week USA last year.
Amera, whose collection mainly in shades of aqua and blue, showcased flowing lines embellished with glittering beads and sequined textures. “The audience enjoyed designs from my country,” says the young designer about her “out-an-out Western collection with cuts that were delicate, transparent and flowy”. The experience where some of the world’s representatives from the fashion world were present “could be called nothing short of thrilling,” says Amera who was one of the three designers whose outfits were chosen for the finale.
